THESE ARE THE HAIR TRENDS OF 2025 AND HOW TO APPLY THEM YOURSELF
Every year during Paris Fashion Week, Ronald van der Kemp – known for his sustainable couture – sets the tone for trends in fashion and hair. Under the leadership of KURO’s Bianca van Zwieten, our professionals and the stylists of KURO Hairschool were backstage this year to bring visionary hair looks to life. From fairy-tale-like locks to voluminous 90s blowouts: this year is all about luxury, natural beauty, and healthy hair. Discover the hair trends of 2025 and how to apply them yourself.
Fairy waves
Think of hair that looks like it came straight out of a mythical painting: long, lush locks. Fairy waves are the eye-catcher on the catwalk this season. A style that not only enchants but also emphasizes the natural beauty of healthy hair.
"Long, wavy hair has always been a status symbol," says Bianca. "From the Roman Empire to the hippie culture: long hair represents strength, freedom, and beauty. This year, we see on the catwalks that models have longer hair than ever, even if they naturally have finer hair. The focus is on a strong base from the roots."
Want to achieve the fairy wave look yourself? Even with medium-length hair, you can enhance your natural waves, as long as you use the right care. With the KURO Scalp Detox treatment, we purify and nourish your hair and scalp. After all, a healthy scalp is the foundation for strong and shiny hair that doesn’t break easily. Additionally, use lightweight styling products that give your hairstyle movement and shine.
90’s blow out
Supermodel glam is back. Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer – the signature blowout of these icons is making a comeback this year.
"In times of economic uncertainty, we return to a rich aesthetic," Bianca explains. "You see this not only in fashion, with rich textures like velvet and metallics, but also in hair: voluminous, shiny blowouts that exude pure luxury. A healthy scalp is key to volume. Think of a detox treatment or a protein boost: hair products with protein make the hair stronger, but not heavy."
Want that iconic 90s blowout? A good blowout can last up to a week (!) if done correctly. KURO’s stylists are experts in this voluminous style and regularly create it for shows. You need a solid base in your hair for this. By adding invisible layering to your cut, we create subtle layers that add extra volume without being visible. For extra volume from the roots, combine the blowout beforehand with a Scalp Detox or Intense Care Ritual Treatment. This keeps your hair in top shape for a whole week.
Soft highlights: dirty blonds and sunkissed hair
Highlights remain a favorite – but this year, it’s all about a natural color transition. Light, soft color gradients that create a subtle, natural look. As if you’ve spent a few hours in the sun.
Bianca: "We work with soft highlights that show hardly any regrowth and keep the hair healthy. This technique works with any hair type and color and gives your hair extra depth and definition."
Whether you have (naturally) blonde hair or want to add highlights to darker hair, for us, healthy hair is always the priority. That’s why we always apply highlights with the improvement or preservation of your hair quality in mind. Our stylists will assess the possibilities for your hair type together with you.
Full colour
This year, we will also see a lot of rich, vibrant colors. From deep chocolate brown to fiery red tones: it’s not just about the color itself but also about its quality and shine.
"The perfect color starts with a high-quality base," says Bianca. "We often work with a glossy permanent color, which we ‘seal’ with elumen, a technique that ensures shine and reflection. This way, your hair color remains beautiful for up to two months without fading."
Considering a new hair color? Our stylists are happy to advise you on which shades complement your face. We take into account your hair type, hair condition, as well as your skin and eye color to achieve the most flattering result.
Shaggy pixie
Short hair is making a big comeback, but with a modern twist. The shaggy pixie is a playful, soft variation of the classic pixie cut – with lots of texture and movement.
Bianca: "This hairstyle is somewhere between a pixie and a mullet. It’s cut very softly and undone, adapted to your own hair structure. The idea is that you can cycle through the rain, and it will only look better."
Short hair is totally in. In our salon, we are getting more and more requests for short haircuts. Combined with a beautiful deep color, the look can be even more powerful. Do you dare to try it?
